Visiting our Rest Homes

Visitors/ Contact:

Our policy regarding visiting is simple, it is the resident's choice. We are happy to receive visitors at any time of the day. Visits may be taken in any of the lounges or in the resident's bedroom, we just ask that you make yourself at home. Where possible, we will provide you with a cup of tea and a smile.

We do expect visitors to the homes to treat them, their residents and care teams with respect and dignity. Please treat people as you, yourself expect to be treated.

Please observe children closely whilst within the home. These are our residents homes and they should be treated as that.

There is a no smoking policy within the homes, with the exception of the 'smoke-rooms', which are for residents only. Please observe this as it is a requirement by law.

We are here primarily for our residents and as such, we will not tolerate visitors abusing or upsetting any resident. Upon this instance that particular visitor would be asked to leave the home, and depending on the nature of the occurrence the possibility of contacting the police explored.

The entering of another resident's bedroom other than that of the resident you are visiting is strictly prohibited.

If a visitor wishes to take a resident out of the home, again we have an open door policy. We do ask that we are given some details e.g. if you are leaving the premises, for fire purposes; when to expect the resident to return, in order that we can determine whether there may be a problem if someone is late back etc...

Service users can contact their family and friends by letter writing, with the assistance of staff for those who can not read well or write. They can contact their loved ones by phone, we have a payphone that they can use, or we can take a handset phone to them in their own private rooms. They can also have a telephone installed in their bedroom if they wish.

If you have any queries, I am happy to speak to you regarding visiting at any of our homes.

Testimonials:

"I'm not just saying this, but these homes are the best I've ever been in. Everything's just right. They're beautifully furnished and Mr and Mrs Wood really care about the residents."
Mr M

"We'd looked around 17 other homes before coming here. We didn't know that homes like this existed. We'd almost given up hope."
Mr C

I hope the residents know how lucky they are. We visit all the homes in the area, and these are by far the nicest on the FYLDE Coast."
Mrs M

"I am visiting from the USA. My grandmother recently came to stay, and I am very pleased with what I have seen. The staff are pleasant, very friendly and I know they're going to look after my grandmother properly. They make excellent tea too."
Mrs H

I've been here several years now, and it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. At home, before coming here I got lonely. This is my home now and I'm very happy here. I have my own bedroom - decorated how I like it, and my own bathroom. The atmosphere is very informal and friendly and I feel very well cared for. It's almost like being part of a big family."
Mrs G

And here's some quotes from our care team:

"My favourite shift is the evening. There's something very satisfying about going home knowing the residents are happy, warm and safely tucked up in bed."
Mr E

"It's brilliant working here. Not only is it a really good atmosphere, where residents and staff members have really friendly relationships, but I feel I'm improving all the time. I've never been offered so much training in my life or felt so valued. It's great to know that the owners have such confidence in me - it makes me want to improve even more."
Mrs R

Finally, here are some from our inspectors at Care Quality Commision (CQC):

"There was an opportunity to observe the care provided to the service users and the interaction between them and the staff..."

Throughout the visit there was the opportunity to have conversations with other staff members, including the homes maintenance man and some of the care staff. There was also the opportunity to speak to some visitors to the home. All of the feedback from these discussions was quite positive..."

"Service users are given the opportunity to make choices, take decisions and voice their opinions..."

"The overall environmental standards of the home are very good and it is evident that the provider is endeavouring to maintain this good standard..."

"The recreational and leisure pursuits being provided are evidently stimulating and motivating people..."

"The home has a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere and it is apparent that trusting relationships exist between the care staff and the service users..."
